Ft. Lauderdale, FL – On October 28, 2008, volunteers from Lowe’s of Oakland Park are dedicating theirtime and expertise to improve The Shepherd’s Way/Paul’s Place Apartments in Ft. Lauderdale.The Shepherd’s Way, at Paul’s Place Apartments, provides temporary housing and support services toassist homeless families to regain independence.
Through the staff and numerous partners, the familiesreceive case management, life skills training, job skills training, parenting skills and financial planning.The project includes replacement of 9 hot water heaters, 9 wall air conditioning units, 15 ceiling fans, 12exterior light fixtures and creation of a Butterfly Garden. These improvements are designed to improvesafety, security, comfort, energy efficiency and landscaping improvements.This project, made possible through a $7,500 grant from Lowe’s, is one of more than 70 RebuildingTogether projects funded by a $1 million grant from Lowe’s to support home and communityimprovement projects across the country.
